Within the sometimes unbearable landscape of loss, softness and surrender create space for rest and for what cannot always be carried alone.
THE STORY OF THE ORIGINAL PAINTING
We grieve people and pets, relationships, places, possibilities, seasons of life and versions of ourselves. Loss takes many forms and so does the way we learn to carry it.
Beneath a flowering tree, the peacock rests. Its familiar splendour is subdued; rather than opening into display, its sweeping tail dissolves softly into layers of lavender, blue and blush, becoming almost indistinguishable from the world around it.
Behind it, the tree remains grounded and still, its branches extending overhead like shelter. There is a gentleness in their relationship - one rests, while the other simply holds space.
Loss can leave us depleted in ways that are not always visible. Sometimes there is nothing to resolve, only a need to stop, surrender the weight for a while, and allow ourselves to be held.
Peacock speaks to that permission: to rest without needing to have found the way forward yet.
